Mark Draper- Chief Executive

Mark has over 25 years’ experience in the power industry. Most recently he served as CEO of Ocean Power Technologies(OPT) Inc, a NASDAQ listed, US based company developing wave energy technology.

Prior to joining OPT in 2004, Mark’s career encompassed a broad range of managerial and engineering roles at Powergen plc – the UK energy business with an annual turnover in excess of £6bn. Ultimately he served as the Managing Director of their Generation Business, where he was responsible for over 9,000MW of power generating assets (conventional and CHP), and also for the development of the new Renewable Business.

He has served as a Non-Executive Director of Slough Heat & Power Ltd and Renewable Power & Light plc. Mark is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers; he holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from Cambridge University. He has attended executive training programs at Wharton and Harvard Business schools.

Jon Fairchild – Chief Financial Officer

Jon has over 10 years’ experience in the power industry. Most recently he was Finance Director at Ovo Energy, an electricity and gas supplier which grew from 15,000 to 90,000 customers in his tenure.

Prior to joining Ovo, he was Group Finance Director at Good Energy, a 100% renewable electricity and gas supplier where he led the project financing for the re-powering of their wind farm at Delabole, North Cornwall whilst growing the customer base by 5 fold. Whilst at Good Energy, Jon led their listing onto the PLUS market and the associated fundraisings on that market.

Jon trained as a Chartered Accountant with Top 10 firm Baker Tilly and he is a qualified Corporate Treasurer. He is a graduate of Southampton University.

John Neale – Engineering Manager

John has joined PeakGen from a power engineering background working in the coal mining, water and sewage treatment, TV & radio broadcasting and defence industries.

Educated with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and trained as a Student Apprentice with the National Coal Board, John has worked in the electricity business for over 33 years with extensive experience in the design, specification, installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of HV/LV electrical and mechanical installations both in the UK and overseas.

Andrew Hyndman- Business Development Manager

Andy’s experience in energy project development spans more than 20 years.  He was, most recently, Principal Consultant in the Energy Services division of AMEC Entec providing advice to public and private bodies in all aspects of project development, especially those relating to low- carbon and renewable energy technologies.

Andy holds a degree in Power Engineering from Derby University and has been accredited by the Carbon Trust to provide Solutions Development.

Christopher  Kelly- General Counsel

Chris has 20 years’ experience advising companies in the energy, defence and transportation sectors.  He was a partner in a Global 100 law firm for 10 years before becoming General Counsel to PeakGen.  His first career was in the Royal Air Force where he was a weapons specialist.

Chris holds a law degree from the University of Birmingham and is licensed to practise as a solicitor by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
