PeakGen is pleased to announce that its latest plant was commissioned and connected to the electricity network today and made available to the National Grid for Short Term Operating Reserve(STOR) service from 0730 tomorrow. The plant includes full remote control and monitoring and a solar installation to provide auxiliary power when the main plant is not operating. It is the largest plant built to date and can supply power for up to 20,000 homes. This is the fifth plant PeakGen has built and commissioned in the past 11 months, and we are very grateful to our suppliers and contractors who have worked with us to make this possible.

These panels are available continuously to supply the auxiliary power required by the plants in their standby mode, but also export excess to the local grid and are registered with the Government’s Feed in Tariff. They will benefit under this scheme for the next 25 years. Solar panels will be considered for inclusion in all future PeakGen plants at the design stage.
